Verse 87:1

سَبِّحِ اسۡمَ رَبِّكَ الۡاَعۡلَىۙ‏

Strive to raise the Name of your Lord, the Most High. [Establish His glory on earth. 56:96]

Verse 87:2

الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰى ۙ‏

Who creates and proportions. [So that all things might become what they are meant to be]

Verse 87:3

وَالَّذِىۡ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰى ۙ‏

The One Who appoints due measure and then shows the way (to all things as to their functions.)

Verse 87:4

وَالَّذِىۡۤ اَخۡرَجَ الۡمَرۡعٰى ۙ‏

The One Who brings forth the lush pasture

Verse 87:5

فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَآءً اَحۡوٰىؕ‏

And then turns it into rust-brown residue. [18:45]

Verse 87:6

سَنُقۡرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنۡسٰٓىۙ‏

(O Messenger) We shall teach you by degrees that you will never forget. [Mankind need guidance like all things in the Universe do]

Verse 87:7

اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰهُ​ؕ اِنَّهٗ يَعۡلَمُ الۡجَهۡرَ وَمَا يَخۡفٰىؕ‏

And God wills that you should never forget. He knows all that is open to human perception as well as all that is hidden. [17:86. He is Aware of man's manifest actions and his hidden potentials which can best be developed under Divine Guidance. Therefore, the Prophet will never forget what God teaches him. 73:2. Illa = Except = Save = But. It means 'Never' when applied to Divine will. So Illa here, as in many other verses, represents 'never', and not 'except'. 11:107-108, 39:68, 55:33, 87:6-7. Verse 87:8

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلۡيُسۡرٰى ​ۖ​ۚ‏

And thus We shall ease your way to the ultimate ease (that you will establish the Divine Order in the society).

Verse 87:9

فَذَكِّرۡ اِنۡ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكۡرٰىؕ‏

Therefore, keep reminding as long as it is beneficial

Verse 87:10

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنۡ يَّخۡشٰىۙ‏

He will heed who fears (the consequences of his misdeeds).
