DIQRA - The Holy Qur'an - Tafseer Of Surah

Verse 85:1

وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الۡبُرُوۡجِۙ‏

The sky full of constellations stands witness.?

Verse 85:2

وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡمَوۡعُوۡدِۙ‏

And the promised Day (of Resurrection).?

Verse 85:3

وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشۡهُوۡدٍؕ‏

He Who watches and those who are being watched.

Verse 85:4

قُتِلَ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡاُخۡدُوۡدِۙ‏

Woe to those who dig ditches for others.?

Verse 85:5

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الۡوَقُوۡدِۙ‏

Igniting the fire of rage.

Verse 85:6

اِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُوۡدٌ ۙ‏

They contemplate and wait in anticipation.

Verse 85:7

وَّهُمۡ عَلٰى مَا يَفۡعَلُوۡنَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ شُهُوۡدٌ ؕ‏

And they are well aware of what they are doing to the believers.

Verse 85:8

وَمَا نَقَمُوۡا مِنۡهُمۡ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡ يُّؤۡمِنُوۡا بِاللّٰهِ الۡعَزِيۡزِ الۡحَمِيۡدِۙ‏

Whom they hate for no other reason than that they believe in God, the Almighty, the Owner of praise. (5:59, 22:40)

Verse 85:9

الَّذِىۡ لَهٗ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِؕ وَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدٌ ؕ‏

And to Whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and earth. But God is Watcher over all things.

Verse 85:10

اِنَّ الَّذِيۡنَ فَتَـنُوا الۡمُؤۡمِنِيۡنَ وَ الۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوۡبُوۡا فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ الۡحَرِيۡقِؕ‏

Those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, and then do not repent by taking corrective action, theirs is the doom of (the ditch) Hell and theirs is the doom of burning.
