Verse 36:1

Y.S. Ya-Seen! (O Human being to whom this Divine Writ is revealed!)

Verse 36:2

The Wise Qur'an is a witness in itself that:

Verse 36:3

Surely, you are one of the Messengers.

Verse 36:4

On a straight path.

Verse 36:5

It is a revelation of the Almighty, the Merciful.

Verse 36:6

That you may warn a people whose ancestors were not warned, and are, therefore, unaware of what is right and what is wrong. [2:125, 7:158, 28:46, 32:3]

Verse 36:7

Already the word has come true for most of them, that they do not believe

Verse 36:8

Around their necks We (Our laws) have put shackles, reaching their chins so that they cannot bend their heads. Their heads are forced up in arrogance (like the agitated camel who keeps his head high refusing to drink the life- giving water).

Verse 36:9

And We have set a bar before them and a bar behind them, and thus have covered them so that they cannot see. [They neither look to the future nor derive any lesson from history]

Verse 36:10

Whether you warn them or warn them not, it is the same for them. [Their attitude bars them from attaining faith]
